On the afternoon of March 16th, 2021, the English teaching and research activity of ‘Two-District Teaching and Research’ of Anqing Foreign Language School's Junior High Department was held in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of the west district. Teacher Yang Chun from the east district and teacher Dong Shuping from the west district held two different open classes on the first round of review of Grade 9. According to the teaching progress of their respective groups, the two teachers simultaneously chose the review contents of Units 3-4 of the second volume of Grade 8 for heterogeneous forms for the same subject.
For one thing, through the integration of the teaching materials, Yang Chun extracted the key and difficult points, and set a variety of situations to skillfully integrate the teaching content with the dialogues that students are prone to making mistakes in the Senior High School Entrance Examination. While conducting a demonstrative lesson in an unfamiliar class, Yang Chun showed a strong ability to control the class and constantly pushed the classroom atmosphere to a climax.
For another, starting from the learning situation, Dong Shuping set up the teaching links from easy to difficult in a step-by-step process with highlights appearing one after another. Finally, the output links came naturally. The whole class was brilliant for the consolidation of basic knowledge and the teacher could check the students' mastery of knowledge to the fullest extent.
In a nutshell, after the demonstration lessons, the teachers from the two districts had a group discussion. During the course of class evaluation, everyone spoke highly of the two classes and put forward their own suggestions on the handling of some details. The teachers in the lesson preparation groups expressed their opinions and the atmosphere was active. Finally, Director Zhang Li made a summary evaluation of the two classes and put forward suggestions for the next step of the English teaching work. Thus, the activity of ‘teaching and research in two districts of the English group allowed each teacher to learn something, which fully reflected the original intention of ‘learning from others and advancing together’ of the teaching and research in two districts.
